Acupuncture and acupressure for labour

Acupuncture and acupressure may have a role in labour by reducing pain, increasing satisfaction with pain management and reduced use of pharmacological management.

A recent Cochrane review found that both Acupuncture and Acupressure may have positive effects on pain and the reduction in use of pharmacological analgesia.  They also found that acupressure probably reduces the need for caesarean section in comparison to a sham control.
