Research into using moxibustion for breech presentation (van den Burg 2010) has included a mathematical modelling approach to investigate cost effectiveness. The results suggest that offering moxibustion to women with a breech presentation at 33 weeks gestation reduces the number of breech presentations at term, thus reducing the number of caesarean sections, and is cost-effective compared to expectant management, including external cephalic version.
